and how it came about.
These are a brand new, patented idea. The Kaiser Slipons. They will, hopefully, change for ever the old draconian way of fitting anklets on all birds of prey kept in captivity, including falconry and aviculture.
These are a brand new, patented idea.
First let me tell you all about this exciting innovative idea to make fitting anklets a pleasure instead of having to endure the dangers associated with casting birds and hammering on anklets. These are the new game changer that will allow you to remove your anklets in less time than it takes you to put them on, thus allowing you to clean them and check your bird’s legs after a day’s hawking or on a trip to the vet. Perfect for wildlife photographers who want natural photographs without anklets showing, and breeders who have to leave anklets on their breeding birds because they are too hard to get off, possible damaging their eggs. There is now a solution. Kaiser Slipons allow you to safely remove and put back on in seconds without tools or help.
The Slipons are made from a very special type of flexible nylon that is extremely strong and forgiving. I have been developing the idea for over three years, in secret, using lots of prototype materials including aluminium, stainless steel, carbon fibre, and several other types of composite materials. Eventually settling on the light weight nylon.
What looks on the face of it to be a very simple idea, has taken a great deal of hard work and attention to detail, culminating in this design combination of the leather anklet and nylon Slipon.
The original idea was first born out when I attempted to make a prosthetic toe and talon for Kaiser my first Golden Eagle. This was because he had his toe removed earlier in life. I designed a slip on false toe and talon for him, which slide over his short toe. This was very successful and then I needed a way to remove false toe when he came back from hunting, thus the Kaiser Slipon was created, In the last eighteen months they have been on test all over Europe, on many different Falconry birds.
I have since shown these to several friends who all instantly said that they wanted some. I immediately patented the idea in the UK and across Europe, and now I have started to sell the Slipons around the globe.

It all started when Thomas designed a prosthesis for Kaiser the Golden Eagle, because he had lost a toe.
The prosthesis needed to be easily applied and removed with little or no stress to Kaiser.
